Institute for Local Self-Reliance: Research Association, Community Broadband Networks Initiative
Katie Kienbaum is a research associate with the Community Broadband Networks initiative at the Institute for Local Self-Reliance (ILSR). She researches and writes about rural Internet access and community-owned networks. Katie has contributed to many ILSR research publications and resources, including Cooperatives Fiberize Rural America: A Trusted Model For The Internet Era, A Pocket Guide to 5G Hype, and Creative Funding Sources for Fiber Infrastructure. She also regularly publishes opinion pieces in support of community-owned broadband projects around the country, most recently in The Intelligencer.
