The state of Iowa has more municipal broadband networks – 24 and counting – as any other state. Most of those networks were built in the 1990s and early 2000s. After a decade-long lull in activity, interest has spiked again with several new municipal fiber networks under construction or in the planning stages.
During this session, Curtis Dean with SmartSource Consulting will look at the broadband landscape in Iowa from the perspective of communities who are trying to see their services improve and discuss the various approaches those communities – and rural areas – are taking.
